HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Salt Fork High School Class 1A Girls Track and Field Team, the Storm, on the occasion of winning the IHSA Class 1A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, Last year, the Storm came up five points short of winning the State championship; this year, the Storm was able to raise the State title trophy for the first time in school history; and

WHEREAS, The Storm has enjoyed many accomplishments this year, including wins at the Vermilion County Meet and the Vermilion Valley Conference Meet; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Storm scored well at the State meet; Abby Nicholson placed fourth in Shot Put and sixth in Discus; Katie Witte placed fifth in Discus; Jenny Kimbro placed first in the 100-Meter High Hurdles and set a new meet school record, breaking her old record that was set last year; Ms. Kimbro also placed first in the 300-Meter Low Hurdles, breaking her own record that was set last year, and placed first in the Long Jump and third in the 200-Meter Dash; and

WHEREAS, The Storm's coaches include Herb Wilkins, assistant coach and throws coach, Andrea Palmer, assistant coach, Phil Suprenant, head boys coach and assistant coach for the girls, and Gail Biggerstaff, head coach, led an outstanding team to victory; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Salt Fork High School Class 1A Girls Track and Field Team, the Storm, on their outstanding performance, honor them for their hard work and determination, and wish them many more years of continued success on and off the track; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution is presented to the Storm as a symbol of our admiration and respect for all they have accomplished.
