HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Chester Gzrybowski on the occasion of his 105th birthday on June 27, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski was born on June 27, 1911; he grew up on Chicago's South Side in the Back of the Yards neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression, building roads and lodges throughout the United States; during World War II, he served with the United States Army in the South Pacific; and

WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski is considered by his family and friends to be a master storyteller who enjoys sharing his perceptions about history, culture, and life; he also enjoys reading, music, visiting with his friends at his many senior clubs, and traveling with his family and friends; he is an avid sportsman and loves fishing and rooting on the Chicago White Sox and Bears; in his younger days, he was a ballroom dancer and still collects old recordings and memorabilia from the Big Band era; and

WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski married Josephine, whom he met dancing in a ballroom, in the early 1940s, and they had a daughter, Carol-Anne; and

WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski has been witness to much history throughout the years but has always kept his love of humanity and his spirited optimism; and

WHEREAS, Chester Gzrybowski's secret to living a long life is to stay active, eat light, and drink a glass of wine each day; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Chester Gzrybowski on his 105th birthday and we wish him many more wonderful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chester Gzrybowski as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
