HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Jim and LaVonne Prochaska 
4on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the opening of Jim's 
5Knoxville Tap in Milan; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Jim's Knoxville Tap and its 10,000-plus ceiling 
7and wall signatures is well-known for being a sports bar long 
8before anyone knew what a sports bar was; many famous 
9musicians, including Willie Nelson and Bobby Fisher, have 
10played in the bar; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Jim Prochaska is an advocate and major supporter 
12of St. Jude Children's Hospital; he has raised thousands of 
13dollars for Alzheimer's research and has always made himself 
14available for local causes and benefits; Jim and LaVonne have 
15supported local youth sports and donated a stretch of land 
16where youth baseball and softball teams play; the couple have 
17also sponsored two race car drivers, pic and dart teams, 
18bowling teams, tractor pull drivers, pool teams, and numerous 
19other groups; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Jim's Knoxville Tap will celebrate 50 years of 
21business with a special event on June 3, 2016; the event 
22includes a celebratory T-shirt, with part of the proceeds from

1each shirt going to St. Jude Children's Hospital; and

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Jim and LaVonne Prochaska serve as models of hard 
3work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
4Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7congratulate Jim and LaVonne Prochaska on the occasion of the 
850th anniversary of the opening of Jim's Knoxville Tap and wish 
9them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Jim and LaVonne Prochaska as a symbol of our 
13esteem and respect.
