| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives pays honor and respect to individuals who have |
| 4 | | given their
lives in service to their communities; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lt. L.C. Merrell Jr. served for 18 years as a |
| 6 | | member of the Chicago Fire Department; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, On April 29, 2000, while serving with Truck 24, |
| 8 | | Lt. Merrell died of injuries sustained while responding to an |
| 9 | | alarm; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Lt. Merrell was posthumously awarded an |
| 11 | | associate's degree in fire science from Harold Washington |
| 12 | | College; therefore, be it
|
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 14 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 15 | | recognize the life of Lt. L.C. Merrell Jr., and thank his |
| 16 | | family for the sacrifice he made while serving his community; |
| 17 | | and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to the family of Lt. Merrell as an expression of our |
| 20 | | esteem and respect.
