| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish congratulate Donna Marie Pezzuto on the |
| 4 | | occasion of her retirement from CJE SeniorLife in Chicago after |
| 5 | | an illustrious career building
strong community-based programs |
| 6 | | for older adults; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Donna Pezzuto began her career at CJE SeniorLife, |
| 8 | | which is widely recognized as one of the
most innovative and |
| 9 | | effective nonprofit agencies in the United States serving only |
| 10 | | older adults; when CJE
was still a young agency, there were |
| 11 | | only 25.5 million adults aged 65 and older living in the United
|
| 12 | | States, compared with 40.2 million in 2010 and a projected 55.9 |
| 13 | | million by 2020; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Donna Pezzuto devoted the past 33 years to |
| 15 | | building many CJE programs; programs were built on the |
| 16 | | recognition that older adults want to have the choice of living
|
| 17 | | happily and safely in community settings, engage with family |
| 18 | | and friends, and that their future depends
on having access to |
| 19 | | an infrastructure of community supports; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Donna Pezzuto has held many positions over the |
| 21 | | past decades at CJE,
including manager of the Care Resources |
| 22 | | Center, the Congregate Living Facilities, the Intake
|
|

| 1 | | Department, and the Neighborhood Advocacy and Consumer |
| 2 | | Assistance departments; she was a Leadership Team
member |
| 3 | | helping to develop the Russian Resettlement Program and the |
| 4 | | "Living at Home" program; she also served as Director of the
|
| 5 | | Grants and Government Affairs Department, as Senior Director of |
| 6 | | the Healthy Aging Initiatives, and finally,
as Vice-President |
| 7 | | of the Healthy Aging and Community Initiatives; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Donna Pezzuto is cherished by her colleagues as |
| 9 | | the best of all team players: she is passionate
about the |
| 10 | | outcome, creative, and always willing to take the initiative no |
| 11 | | matter how difficult the task; she is detail-oriented, gracious |
| 12 | | in coaching other staff, including many that she mentored so |
| 13 | | that they could shine in
their achievements, and she is always |
| 14 | | trusted by those closest to her as their go-to person because |
| 15 | | of her
strategic thinking, her honest and non-judgmental |
| 16 | | support, and her integrity; therefore, be it
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 18 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 19 | | congratulate Donna Marie Pezzuto on her retirement from
CJE |
| 20 | | SeniorLife and wish her a long and equally fruitful retirement; |
