HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize Chris and Ryan Scott for 
4their heroic actions in responding to an emergency in their 
5neighborhood; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Tammy and Joe Derk and their seven children were 
7enjoying a swim at their home on June 7, 2015, when their son, 
8Joseph, suffered sudden cardiac arrest; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Tammy administered CPR while Joe called 911; when 
10the 911 call went out, Chris and Ryan Scott, both EMTs, were 
11two doors down at their home; they recognized the address as 
12being their former home, and being so close, they responded; 
13and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Upon arriving on the scene, Ryan Scott began chest 
15compressions and Chris performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation; 
16Chris rode with Joseph in the ambulance, where paramedics 
17continued treatment; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Joseph has made a full recovery; therefore, be it
  
 
  
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
20NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1recognize Chris and Ryan Scott for their heroic actions in 
2responding to an emergency in their neighborhood and we thank 
3them for saving the life of Joseph Derk; and be it further
  
 
4    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
5presented to Chris and Ryan Scott as a symbol of our respect 
6and esteem.
