HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the members of the
4Goreville High School Blackcats boys baseball team on the
5occasion of their IHSA Class 1A championship victory; and
 
6    WHEREAS, After impressive victories at the Regionals,
7Sectionals, and Super-Sectionals, the Blackcats rallied from
8seven runs down in the fourth inning to beat Somonauk 17-7 at
9Dozer Park and win their first State championship; the
10Blackcats scored 14 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to
11end the game in walk-off fashion after trailing 7-0; the team
12ended the season with a phenomenal 28-6 record and set a school
13record for wins in a season; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The 17 runs scored by the Blackcats in their
15victory over Somonauk set a Class 1A record and were the
16second-most ever in an IHSA State title game; the team also set
17over 20 records at the State tournament, including the most
18runs by any team at the State tournament since the IHSA went to
19its current four-class system; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The members of the Goreville High School boys
21baseball team are Blaine Dunning, Nolan Vaughn, Chase Ward,
22Jared Vaughn, Logan Verble, Brendon Davis, Caleb Murley, Tyler

1Pritchett, Brant Glidewell, Braden Webb, Grant Venus, Chance
2Duringer, Zane Schuetz, Peyton Geyman, Logyn Frassato, Peyton
3Massey, Connor Johnson, and Brodie Lenon; the Blackcats are
4coached by head coach, Shawn Tripp and assistant coaches, Bryan
5Webb and Kenton Parmley; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Goreville High School Blackcats serve as
7models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people
8of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11congratulate the members of the Goreville High School Blackcats
12boys baseball team on the occasion of their IHSA Class 1A
13championship victory and wish them continued success and
14happiness in the future; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the Goreville High School Blackcats as a symbol of
17our esteem and respect.
