HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, USA Gymnastics and gymnastics clubs across the 
3nation annually celebrate National Gymnastics Day to showcase 
4the sport of gymnastics and to encourage and promote physical 
5fitness among our nation's youth; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Gymnastics provides a great foundation for 
7building strength, flexibility, fitness, life skills, 
8enhancing self-esteem, and goal-setting abilities; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, National Gymnastics Day seeks to promote the value 
10of physical fitness and good nutrition for everyone, regardless 
11of age, gender, and ability level; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, On National Gymnastics Day, gymnastics clubs 
13around the world partner with USA Gymnastics to heighten the 
14visibility of the sport and encourage participation at the 
15grassroots level; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, National Gymnastics Day aims to serve the greater 
17community good by supporting the mission of the Nastia Liukin 
18Fund through outreach to clubs that aid athletes who need 
19financial assistance to remain or become involved in 
20gymnastics; and

1    WHEREAS, USA Gymnastics, along with the State of Illinois 
2and the nation, strive to encourage greatness and achievement 
3in young people; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6designate September 17, 2016 as "Gymnastics Day" in the State 
7of Illinois in support of National Gymnastics Day; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to USA Gymnastics as an expression of our esteem and 
11respect.
