HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the 50th anniversary of the 
4Streamwood Park District; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, In 1966, a referendum was passed by voters 
6creating the Streamwood Park District, and soon after, the 
7first meeting of the newly elected Streamwood Park District 
8Board of Commissioners was held; those commissioners were Merle 
9A. Bonora Jr. (President), Donald R. Bruhms, Eileen 
10Lewandowski, J. Douglas McDonald, and Hal Slater 
11(Vice-President); and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, In the late 1970s, a contest was conducted by the 
13Streamwood Park District to offer residents an opportunity to 
14rename a park in honor of the Village of Streamwood's 25th 
15anniversary; LaSalle Park was renamed "Anniversary Park" and 
16Miller-McCool Park was renamed "Kiddie Corner Park"; other 
17parks had minor name changes; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, In 1974, Gertrude Odlum donated the one-room 
19schoolhouse on her property to the Streamwood Park District; in 
201975, the schoolhouse was moved to its location on Parkside 
21Circle and the Bicentennial Commission took charge of its 
22restoration; in 1976, the Streamwood Historical Society was

1born; in 1991, the schoolhouse was moved again to the Hoosier 
2Grove Campus; and
  
 
  
3    WHEREAS, Throughout the history of the Streamwood Park 
4District, the board of commissioners and the staff have always 
5strived to provide the best product and services to area 
6residents; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9recognize the 50th anniversary of the Streamwood Park District 
10and we wish it many more years of success; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Streamwood Park District Executive Director 
13Dennis Stein.
