| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize the 50th anniversary of the |
| 4 | | Streamwood Park District; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, In 1966, a referendum was passed by voters |
| 6 | | creating the Streamwood Park District, and soon after, the |
| 7 | | first meeting of the newly elected Streamwood Park District |
| 8 | | Board of Commissioners was held; those commissioners were Merle |
| 9 | | A. Bonora Jr. (President), Donald R. Bruhms, Eileen |
| 10 | | Lewandowski, J. Douglas McDonald, and Hal Slater |
| 11 | | (Vice-President); and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, In the late 1970s, a contest was conducted by the |
| 13 | | Streamwood Park District to offer residents an opportunity to |
| 14 | | rename a park in honor of the Village of Streamwood's 25th |
| 15 | | anniversary; LaSalle Park was renamed "Anniversary Park" and |
| 16 | | Miller-McCool Park was renamed "Kiddie Corner Park"; other |
| 17 | | parks had minor name changes; and

| 18 | | WHEREAS, In 1974, Gertrude Odlum donated the one-room |
| 19 | | schoolhouse on her property to the Streamwood Park District; in |
| 20 | | 1975, the schoolhouse was moved to its location on Parkside |
| 21 | | Circle and the Bicentennial Commission took charge of its |
| 22 | | restoration; in 1976, the Streamwood Historical Society was |
