2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Theresa Coye Nihill on | ||||||
4 | becoming the Chief Operating Officer of Metropolitan Family | ||||||
5 | Services; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Theresa Nihill has served in her current position | ||||||
7 | as Executive Director of the Metropolitan DuPage Center since | ||||||
8 | 2007; she joined Metropolitan as a
social worker in 1986, and | ||||||
9 | throughout her 30-year career, has helped provide low-income | ||||||
10 | families
with job, education, health, and other services; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Theresa Nihill has led and worked with community | ||||||
12 | partners to identify gaps in
services and has worked tirelessly | ||||||
13 | to fill those gaps; she has worked to expand,
improve, and | ||||||
14 | build new systems in human services to help meet the basic | ||||||
15 | needs
of DuPage County residents, especially the most | ||||||
16 | vulnerable; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Theresa Nihill is a true collaborator and helped | ||||||
18 | found and develop numerous programs, including Family | ||||||
19 | Self-Sufficiency, which provides lower-income families access | ||||||
20 | to child
care, educational and job opportunities, and intensive | ||||||
21 | emotional support; Supportive Housing Initiative for Families | ||||||
22 | in Transition designed to
stabilize housing for homeless |

1 | families so they may address issues
associated with poverty; We | ||||||
2 | Go Together for Kids, a collaborative that addresses the | ||||||
3 | health, safety,
and the well-being of West Chicago students and | ||||||
4 | their families; and several integrated behavioral health and | ||||||
5 | primary health programs; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Theresa Nihill's leadership roles include serving | ||||||
7 | on the Steering Committee for Impact
DuPage and the Behavioral | ||||||
8 | Health Collaboration for DuPage County; the Boards
of the | ||||||
9 | DuPage Federation on Human Services Reform and Positive | ||||||
10 | Parenting
DuPage; and the Steering Committee for We Go Together | ||||||
11 | for Kids; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Under Theresa Nihill's leadership, the | ||||||
13 | Metropolitan DuPage Center won grants to provide Head Start
and | ||||||
14 | Early Head Start programming in DuPage County, and secured | ||||||
15 | support for
the Addison Children's Center; and | ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Theresa Nihill was named one of DuPage County's | ||||||
17 | "5O Under 50" and as a Woman of
Distinction by Suburban Life | ||||||
18 | Media; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Theresa Nihill helped forge a partnership with the | ||||||
20 | People's Resource Center that
provides mental health services | ||||||
21 | to individuals and families living in Southeast
DuPage County | ||||||
22 | which had been underserved; and

1 | WHEREAS, Theresa Nihill is an inspiration to others and a | ||||||
2 | role model to young women who strive
to succeed; therefore, be | ||||||
3 | it
| ||||||
4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
5 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
6 | congratulate Theresa Coye Nihill on becoming the Chief | ||||||
7 | Operating Officer of Metropolitan Family Services, and we wish | ||||||
8 | her many years of success; and be it further

9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to Theresa Nihill as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
11 | respect.
