HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Sergeant Brian Topczewski has honorably served 
3the Chicago Police Department for 20 years; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Sergeant Topczewski has consistently displayed 
5professionalism and courage in the line of duty; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Sergeant Topczewski assisted in the emergency 
7care of an officer shot during a prior incident in 2016; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, On August 8, 2016 Sergeant Topczewski responded to 
9a dispatch that a 10-year-old child, Tavon Turner, had been 
10shot; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Sergeant Topczewski possessed extensive medical 
12training having served on the special tactical unit Mobile 
13Strike Force; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Sergeant Topczewski performed emergency medical 
15care on Tavon Turner until the paramedics arrived; therefore, 
16be it
  
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
18NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
19commend Sergeant
Brian Topczewski for exemplary behavior on

1behalf of the Chicago Police Department and for his valor in 
2providing aid for a wounded child; and be it further
  
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
4presented to Sergeant Topczewski as an expression of our esteem 
5and respect.
