HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the 27th Annual Black & Gold 
4Scholarship Gala presented by the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable 
5Foundation, a not-for-profit entity of the
Theta Mu Lambda 
6Chapter - Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, This event raises funds in order to continue 
8providing educational resources and scholarships for
young 
9African American students to expand their scholastic 
10opportunities; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Alpha Phi Alpha firmly believes in creating 
12resources, leadership skills, and tools for
youth to realize 
13their full potential and is dedicated to building a
foundation 
14for the educational and personal development of future leaders; 
15and
  
 
  
16    WHEREAS, This year's program theme is "Celebrating 
17Service, Awareness, and Leadership"; four community leaders 
18will be honored with the Impact Award for their work with
youth 
19and four young people will be honored with the Rising Star 
20Award; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, The gala will be held
on November 12, 2016 at the

1Tinley Park Convention Center; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4recognize the 27th Annual Black & Gold Scholarship Gala and we 
5wish them many more years of success; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation as an 
8expression of our esteem and respect.
