HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Matt Gullone on 
4receiving the "2016 Rural Physician of Excellence Award" from 
5the Illinois Rural Health Association; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, One of the biggest healthcare challenges across 
7the nation is the shortage of physicians who practice in rural 
8areas; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Gullone graduated from the Rural Medical 
10Education Program at the University Of Illinois College Of 
11Medicine in 2006; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Gullone completed his residency at Memorial 
13Hospital in South Bend, Indiana, where he worked for the South 
14Bend Emergency Physicians; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dr. Gullone joined the Midwest Medical Center in 
16Galena in 2009, and since that time, has immersed himself in 
17the community; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Gullone serves as the Galena High School 
19sports team physician, keeping a watchful eye over the student 
20athletes of Jo Daviess County; and

1    WHEREAS, Dr. Gullone began volunteering  with the Jo Daviess 
2County Home Health Board in 2009; he currently serves as 
3president of the board; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Family medicine is a "family affair" at the 
5Gullone home; Dr. Gullone's wife, Dr. Beth Gullone, a family 
6practitioner, is dedicated to the community, which makes the 
7couple a great asset to the citizens of Jo Daviess County; 
8therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
11congratulate  Dr. Matt Gullone on receiving the "2016 Rural 
12Physician of Excellence Award" and commend him on the impact he 
13has made on  improving rural health; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Dr. Gullone as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
