HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the 90th anniversary of the 
4Retired Teachers Association of Chicago in 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, At the time of the founding of the RTAC in 1926, 
6the United States was in an uncertain period, only three years 
7before the onset of the Great Depression; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, In 1945, the  RTAC worked with Dr. Ethel Percy 
9Andrus to establish and serve as one of the
charter members of 
10the National Retired Teachers Association, which promotes the 
11interests of
retired educators across the nation; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The RTAC had provided a variety of supportive 
13services to its members throughout the nine decades of its 
14existence, which included times of serious economic challenges 
15to the United States, the State of Illinois, and the City of 
16Chicago; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, The RTAC actively represents the interests of its 
18approximately 10,000 members in
the Illinois General Assembly 
19to secure legislation to promote fiscal stability to its 
20pension
funding resources; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3the Retired Teachers Association of Chicago be commended for 90 
4years of
service to retired Chicago public school educators; 
5and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable
copy of this Resolution be 
7forwarded to the Retired Teachers Association of Chicago.
