HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate John Sayers on the occasion of his retirement after 17 years of service with the Kewanee Public Library District; and

WHEREAS, John Sayers has served as Director of the Kewanee Public Library District since April of 1999; and

WHEREAS, Major accomplishments of John Sayers include the renovation and restoration of the library building, an ongoing project for several years, the result of which is the beautiful Carnegie building that will serve the community for many years to come; and

WHEREAS, John Sayers has served in many library groups and committees, including being Chairman of the RSA Users Group from 2004 to 2016, as Treasurer for the Kewanee Areas Arts Council, and as Kewanee First United Methodist song leader and bell choir director; and

WHEREAS, John Sayers was honored with one of the highest honors Kiwanis International bestows on its members, the Dr. Luis V. Amador Medallion Award; and

WHEREAS, John Sayers is an active member of his community; he has served in leadership positions with both Rotary International and the Kiwanis; he also worked on the fundraising committees for the hospital and Abilities Plus; and

WHEREAS, John Sayers' music at the Carnegie series is a highlight in Kewanee each October; and

WHEREAS, Under the stewardship of John Sayers, the Kewanee Public Library has been instrumental in raising money to fund a number of building projects and library programs which would not have been otherwise possible; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate John Sayers on his retirement, and we wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to John Sayers as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
