HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate John Sayers on the
4occasion of his retirement after 17 years of service with the
5Kewanee Public Library District; and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Sayers has served as Director of the Kewanee
7Public Library District since April of 1999; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Major accomplishments of John Sayers include the
9renovation and restoration of the library building, an ongoing
10project for several years, the result of which is the beautiful
11Carnegie building that will serve the community for many years
12to come; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Sayers has served in many library groups and
14committees, including being Chairman of the RSA Users Group
15from 2004 to 2016, as Treasurer for the Kewanee Areas Arts
16Council, and as Kewanee First United Methodist song leader and
17bell choir director; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Sayers was honored with one of the highest
19honors Kiwanis International bestows on its members, the Dr.
20Luis V. Amador Medallion Award; and

1    WHEREAS, John Sayers is an active member of his community;
2he has served in leadership positions with both Rotary
3International and the Kiwanis; he also worked on the
4fundraising committees for the hospital and Abilities Plus; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Sayers' music at the Carnegie series is a
6highlight in Kewanee each October; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Under the stewardship of John Sayers, the Kewanee
8Public Library has been instrumental in raising money to fund a
9number of building projects and library programs which would
10not have been otherwise possible; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13congratulate John Sayers on his retirement, and we wish him
14continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to John Sayers as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
