| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Dr. Foley Beach has served as | ||||||
| 3 | the Rector and Pastor of
Holy Cross Anglican Church in | ||||||
| 4 | Loganville, Georgia since 2004; he was consecrated as the first
| ||||||
| 5 | Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the South in 2010, and has | ||||||
| 6 | served as the second Archbishop
of the Anglican Church in North | ||||||
| 7 | America since 2014; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach has shared his extensive | ||||||
| 9 | ministry experience, proclaiming the Gospel of
Jesus Christ | ||||||
| 10 | through his weekly broadcast, "A Word from the Lord", and in | ||||||
| 11 | numerous news
articles, podcasts, and publications; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach, as the highest ecclesial | ||||||
| 13 | authority of the Anglican Church
in North America, has traveled | ||||||
| 14 | widely to forge and deepen partnerships with Christian
| ||||||
| 15 | denominations that proclaim the Gospel and care lovingly for | ||||||
| 16 | the people of God; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Archbishop Beach, the | ||||||
| 18 | Anglican Church in North
America was declared a Partner | ||||||
| 19 | Province of the Global South in 2015, further strengthening its
| ||||||
| 20 | bonds with Anglicans around the world; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach has taught that Christians are to | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | be relentlessly compassionate and has
worked to build and | ||||||
| 2 | support parish ministries that feed the poor, serve the | ||||||
| 3 | homeless, care for
orphans, and help people of all ages who are | ||||||
| 4 | at risk; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach has spent his time as Archbishop | ||||||
| 6 | encouraging and building the Anglican
Church in North America | ||||||
| 7 | to where it now numbers almost a thousand churches, with 1,700
| ||||||
| 8 | clergy members, and over 350 missionaries serving abroad | ||||||
| 9 | through the Global Anglican Mission
Partners; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach has provided guidance and | ||||||
| 11 | assistance to the 30
dioceses of the Anglican Church of North | ||||||
| 12 | America, including the Diocese of Quincy and the
City of Peoria | ||||||
| 13 | which it serves; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Archbishop Beach visits on the occasion of the | ||||||
| 15 | 139th Synod of the Diocese of Quincy on
October 20-22, 2016; | ||||||
| 16 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 18 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 19 | welcome the Most Reverend Dr. Foley Beach to Central
Illinois; | ||||||
| 20 | and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
