| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize Molly Feller on her | ||||||
| 4 | achievements in the Girl Scouts of America Youth Organization | ||||||
| 5 | and her efforts to improve her neighborhood; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Molly Feller, a rising ninth grade resident of | ||||||
| 7 | Norwood Park received a Girl Scout Silver
Award at the Girl | ||||||
| 8 | Scout Troop 21008 Investiture Ceremony at Immaculate | ||||||
| 9 | Conception School; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, The Girl Scout Silver Award is an award that | ||||||
| 11 | challenges girls to be their best; it is the second
highest | ||||||
| 12 | National Girl Scout award and the highest award at the Cadette | ||||||
| 13 | level to which Molly Feller belongs; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Before a Girl Scout can attempt to earn a Silver | ||||||
| 15 | Award she must complete a Girl Scout Journey
and learn the | ||||||
| 16 | skills needed to take the next step by earning the Journey | ||||||
| 17 | awards, which include creating
and carrying out a Take Action | ||||||
| 18 | project; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, The Girl Scout Silver Award is a seven-step | ||||||
| 20 | process with a minimum time commitment of 50
hours to prove | ||||||
| 21 | that one is a leader who is organized, determined, and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | dedicated to improving her
community; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Molly Feller has been working at The Danish Home | ||||||
| 3 | of Chicago, a retirement community in her
neighborhood, to | ||||||
| 4 | paint sidewalks, safety curbs, spray paint fences, and perform | ||||||
| 5 | other tasks for the betterment of
the home and its residents; | ||||||
| 6 | and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Molly Feller identified a threat to songbirds | ||||||
| 8 | residing peacefully outside of the senior home and
wanted to | ||||||
| 9 | take action; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Molly Feller led fellow scouts in the effort to | ||||||
| 11 | build birdhouses to protect the beloved birds of the
community | ||||||
| 12 | from predators; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Molly Feller developed relationships with | ||||||
| 14 | residents of the retirement community and successfully
| ||||||
| 15 | completed a sustainable project that will live on in the | ||||||
| 16 | community; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 18 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 19 | recognize Molly Feller on her achievements in the Girl Scouts | ||||||
| 20 | of America Youth Organization and
her efforts to improve her | ||||||
| 21 | neighborhood; and be it further
| ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 2 | presented to Molly Feller as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 3 | esteem.
