HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate World Series Most 
4Valuable Player and Eureka's own Ben Zobrist for his wonderful 
5season and World Series victory; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Ben Zobrist was born and raised in Eureka; his 
7parents are Tom Zobrist and Cynthia "Cindi" Zobrist; Tom 
8Zobrist serves as the senior pastor of Liberty Bible Church in 
9Eureka; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Ben Zobrist is married to Christian musician 
11Julianna Zobrist, who sang "God Bless America" at Wrigley Field 
12during Game 4 of the World Series; together, they have three 
13children, Zion Benjamin, Kruse Allegra, and Blaise Royal; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Ben Zobrist currently plays with the 2016 World 
15Champions Chicago Cubs; he previously played with the Tampa Bay 
16Rays, the Oakland Athletics, and the Kansas City Royals; he 
17helped win the 2015 World Series over the New York Mets while 
18playing with the Kansas City Royals; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, In the epic Game 7 of the 2016 World Series 
20between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians, with the 
21score tied in the 10th inning, Ben Zobrist hit an

1opposite-field double down the third base line, driving home 
2Albert Almora, Jr. and putting the Cubs ahead for good in an 
38-7 win that clinched the 2016 World Series victory; this 
4victory marks the first World Series victory for the Chicago 
5Cubs in 108 years; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Following the Cubs' Game 7 victory in the 2016 
7World Series, Ben Zobrist was named the 2016 World Series Most 
8Valuable Player after driving in the first of two go-ahead runs 
9in the top of the tenth inning; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12congratulate 2016 World Series Most Valuable Player and 
13Illinois native Ben Zobrist for his wonderful season and World 
14Series victory and wish him great success and happiness in the 
15future; and be it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17presented to Ben Zobrist as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
