HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Kurt Barker on the 
4occasion of receiving the 2016 Award of Recognition at the 
5Illinois State Board of Education's "Those Who Excel" Awards 
6Program; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Kurt Barker serves as the music teacher at 
8Willowbrook School in the Village of Glenview; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Kurt Barker was nominated for the Award of 
10Recognition by Willowbrook Principal, Scott Carlson, and was 
11supported by four other individuals who submitted letters of 
12support; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, As a music teacher, Kurt Barker continually goes 
14beyond the classroom to engage the school and district in many 
15activities; he was instrumental in the creation of integrative 
16specials for District 30 kindergarten students when the 
17district's kindergarten program went to full-time; he also 
18works as a mentor in the District 30 Professional Development 
19program, where he advises second-year teachers on stretching 
20their professional goals; and

  
 
21    WHEREAS, Kurt Barker serves as a model of hard work,

1integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
2Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5congratulate Kurt Barker on the occasion of receiving the 2016 
6Award of Recognition from the Illinois State Board of Education 
7and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and 
8be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Kurt Barker as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
