HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Edward W. Paesel on the occasion of his retirement as Executive Director of the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association; and

WHEREAS, Edward Paesel attended Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights and was elected to its Hall of Fame in 2000; he earned his bachelor's from Illinois State University in 1971 and his master's in History from Illinois State University in 1973; and

WHEREAS, Since 2000, Edward Paesel has served as Executive Director of the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association, which represents 43 communities in southern Cook and Will Counties; prior to that, he served as Director of the Third Airport Information Clearinghouse from 1989 to 2000 and Mayor of Sauk Village from 1977 to 1989; and

WHEREAS, Edward Paesel currently serves as Chairman of the Land Use Committee and member of the Planning Coordinating Committee for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning; he also serves on the South Suburban Land Bank Board, the Chicago Southland Fiber Network Board, and the Cook County Economic Development Advisory Committee; and

WHEREAS, Edward Paesel has been a dedicated proponent of Southland economic and physical development; he has also been a catalyst for consensus building between units of government, not-for-profit groups, business, industry, community-based organizations, and everyday residents of the region; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Edward W. Paesel on the occasion of his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Edward Paesel as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
