HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4Murphysboro High School Key Club on the occasion of winning the 
5Single Service Award and the Major Emphasis Award for the 
62015-2016 school year at the International Kiwanis Convention 
7in Atlanta, Georgia in July of 2016; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The Single Service Award is awarded for the top 
9service project; the Murphysboro High School Key Club created a 
10Share the Spirit Toys-Coat-Food Drive, which collected items 
11and distributed 500 boxes of food, 7,000 wrapped toys, and 200 
12coats; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The Major Emphasis Award is given to the club that 
14gives the most service to young children; the Murphysboro High 
15School Key Club did 25 different projects that served young 
16children; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Key Club is the oldest and largest service program 
18for high school students; the group is a student-led 
19organization that teaches leadership through service to 
20others; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Key Club has approximately 260,000 members in

1approximately 5,000 clubs and is represented in 37 countries, 
2demonstrating the significance of the achievement for the 
3Murphysboro High School Key Club to win both awards in a single 
4year; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The Murphysboro High School Key Club has 125 
6participating students and is sponsored by the Murphysboro 
7Kiwanis Club; Bob Hall acts as the club's Advisor; therefore, 
8be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
11congratulate the members of the Murphysboro High School Key 
12Club on the occasion of winning the Single Service Award and 
13the Major Emphasis Award and wish them continued success and 
14happiness in the future; and be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to the Murphysboro High School Key Club as a sign of 
17our esteem and respect.
