| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to honor the tenure of our
esteemed | ||||||
| 4 | colleague, State Representative and Assistant Majority Leader | ||||||
| 5 | John Bradley, and thank
him for his dedicated service to our | ||||||
| 6 | State and Southern Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Representative Bradley was born and raised in | ||||||
| 8 | Harrisburg, where he attended
Harrisburg High School and earned | ||||||
| 9 | an A.S., A.A. from Southeastern Illinois College; he
received | ||||||
| 10 | his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and | ||||||
| 11 | his Juris Doctor from the University of
Illinois at | ||||||
| 12 | Urbana-Champaign; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Representative Bradley served his community as an | ||||||
| 14 | attorney, and as a member of
the Williamson County Airport | ||||||
| 15 | Authority, the Southeastern Illinois College Alumni | ||||||
| 16 | Association,
REDCO, Marion Rotary International, the Royalton | ||||||
| 17 | Lion's Club, the National Wild Turkey Federation,
the National | ||||||
| 18 | Rifle Association, and Ducks Unlimited; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Representative Bradley is a member of Christian | ||||||
| 20 | Covenant Fellowship in
Carterville; he and his wife, Michelle, | ||||||
| 21 | have three children; over the
years, his office staff has | ||||||
| 22 | helped thousands of constituents access State services and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | navigate past
government red tape; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Representative Bradley has been a strong advocate | ||||||
| 3 | for Southern Illinois; he worked
to pass laws to combat | ||||||
| 4 | methamphetamine use in the region, create the Franklin County | ||||||
| 5 | Juvenile
Meth Treatment Program, and protect the rights of | ||||||
| 6 | landowners; he championed the cause of the elderly and | ||||||
| 7 | struggling residents in
leading the fight against large utility | ||||||
| 8 | rate increases and worked to ensure utility consumers across
| ||||||
| 9 | the State received more than one billion dollars in rebates; | ||||||
| 10 | and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Economic development and jobs have been a major | ||||||
| 12 | priority for Representative
Bradley; he was a leading voice in | ||||||
| 13 | the expansion of Route 13 in Williamson County, new
highway | ||||||
| 14 | construction along Interstate 57, the creation of the Franklin | ||||||
| 15 | Regional Economic
Development Corporation, efforts to benefit | ||||||
| 16 | the coal and fracking industries, and changes to the
State | ||||||
| 17 | workers' compensation system and unemployment insurance | ||||||
| 18 | program to help protect
employers and middle-class workers; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, As Chairman of the House Revenue and Finance | ||||||
| 20 | Committee, Representative Bradley
led the fight against a plan | ||||||
| 21 | by former Governor Rod Blagojevich to impose a massive tax | ||||||
| 22 | increase
on businesses; his committee worked to stop hundreds | ||||||
| 23 | of bills that would increase spending or
would allow new taxes | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | to become law; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Representative Bradley is an example of | ||||||
| 3 | dedication and tenacity to those who have
served alongside him; | ||||||
| 4 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 6 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 7 | congratulate and thank State Representative John Bradley for | ||||||
| 8 | his years of dedicated service; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to Representative Bradley as an expression of our | ||||||
| 11 | respect and esteem, and with our best wishes for his future | ||||||
| 12 | success.
