HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

3Representatives wish to congratulate Jennie M. Sekula on the

4occasion of her 100th birthday on December 16, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Jennie Sekula was born on December 16, 1916 to

6Angeline and Pasquale Pignatelli; she lived and attended school 
7in Chicago; and
  
 
  
8    WHEREAS, Jennie Sekula has
been married to Joseph Sekula 
9for 43 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jennie Sekula had two
children, Barbara and 
11Robert; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jennie Sekula has been blessed with four

13grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jennie Sekula spent nearly 53 years in the 
15workforce; she started her employment working for an athletic 
16shoe
company, where she handcrafted ice skates for actress and 
17ice skater,
Sonja Henie; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jennie Sekula spent the remainder of her working 
19career
employed by various shoe and seamstress companies; and

1    WHEREAS, Jennie Sekula was raised Roman Catholic and has

2been blessed with a long life, something she thanks God for

3everyday; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Jennie Sekula has recently said one of the best

5highlights of her life came when she received an Apostolic

6Blessing from Pope Francis celebrating her 100th birthday; 
7therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10congratulate Jennie M. Sekula on her 100th birthday on December 
1116, 2016, and we wish her many more wonderful years; and be it

13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to Jennie Sekula as an expression of our esteem and 
15respect.
