HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Winchester Elementary 
4School 8th grade girls basketball team, the Wolverines, on 
5winning the 2016 Illinois Elementary School Association Class 
68-2A State Championship; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Wolverines defeated the Decatur Hope Hawks by 
8a score of 37 to 23 to win the State Championship; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Wolverines won the Regional Championship by 
10defeating Greenfield Elementary School; they won the Sectional 
11Championship by defeating Brown County Elementary School; in 
12the first round of the State Tournament, they defeated the 2015 
13Champions, Lewistown Central Elementary School; in the second 
14round of the State Tournament, they beat the previously 
15undefeated Altamont Elementary School team; and
 
16    WHEREAS, This is the second State Championship for the 
17Wolverines in the last three seasons; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The Wolverines complied a record of 25 wins and 
19two losses on their way to the championship; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, The Wolverines are Madi DeJaynes, Reagan Evans,

1Calista Fox, Karsyn Wardlow, Sydney Elliott, Summer Davis, Anna 
2Sellars, Emma Slagle, Tristan Lashmett, Zaylei Evans, and Zoe 
3Evans; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, The Wolverines are coached by Head Coach Jason 
5Likes, and
Assistant Coach Nolan Roberts; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8congratulate the Winchester Elementary School 8th grade girls 
9basketball team, the Wolverines, on winning the 2016 Illinois 
10Elementary School Association Class 8-2A State Championship, 
11and we wish them many more years of success; and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to the Wolverines as an expression of our esteem and 
14respect.
