| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate JoAnn
Sullivan on |
| 4 | | the occasion of her retirement on December 31, 2016 after over |
| 5 | | 44 years of dedicated
service as an Executive Assistant to |
| 6 | | Speaker Michael J. Madigan; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, JoAnn Sullivan hopped in her car at a young age to |
| 8 | | travel from Bloomington to Springfield for
a potential job |
| 9 | | opportunity at the State Capitol, intending to only stay at the |
| 10 | | job for a couple of years
before pursuing other opportunities |
| 11 | | in California; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, JoAnn Sullivan was hired to her short-planned |
| 13 | | position as an Executive Secretary on June 8,
1972; she was |
| 14 | | assigned to a few representatives, including Representative |
| 15 | | Michael J. Madigan
from the southwest side of Chicago; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, JoAnn Sullivan faithfully served Representative |
| 17 | | Madigan, assisting him as he rose in the ranks
within the House |
| 18 | | Democratic Caucus from Representative to Leader to Speaker; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, JoAnn Sullivan had a friendly smile for everyone |
| 20 | | who walked in her door, even if she had to
be the bearer of bad |
| 21 | | news; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, While JoAnn Sullivan worked throughout the years |
| 2 | | as an employee of the Speaker, she
always considered him to be |
| 3 | | a part of her family; and

| 4 | | WHEREAS, While it is bittersweet to leave her work family, |
| 5 | | JoAnn Sullivan intends to enjoy many years
with her other |
| 6 | | family whom she missed during the long session hours, including |
| 7 | | her mother, Erma
McDaniel; her husband, Greg; her sons, Sean, |
| 8 | | Daniel, and Michael; and her grandchildren, Norah, Lydia,
|
| 9 | | Maeve, and Hannah; therefore, be it
|
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 11 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 12 | | congratulate JoAnn Sullivan on her retirement, thank her
for |
| 13 | | her many years of dedicated service to the Illinois General |
| 14 | | Assembly and the people of the State of
Illinois, and wish her |
| 15 | | many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 17 | | presented to JoAnn Sullivan as a symbol of our
respect and |
