HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James L. "Jim" Broadway of Franklin County, who passed away on December 14, 2016; and

WHEREAS, James Broadway was born to Lester and Eleanor (Hartsock) Broadway in Benton on October 3, 1946; he married Freda Crider; and

WHEREAS, James Broadway was a self-employed truck driver for 46 years; he worked as a police officer for many years in Christopher; and

WHEREAS, James Broadway was a life member of the Eagles, the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, and the Sons of the American Legion Post 1961 Orient; he enjoyed fishing and hunting; and

WHEREAS, James Broadway was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Chester Broadway, Mike Crider, and Chuck Garbo; his brothers, Carl Hartsock, Bill Hartsock, Stacy Broadway, and Kenny Ray Broadway; and his sisters, Linda Broadway Matheny Groves, Paula Broadway Vaughn, Cheryl Broadway Jones, and Jan Hartsock; and

WHEREAS, James Broadway is survived by his spouse of 28 years, Freda; his sons, Jimmy Broadway, Bill Crider and Brad Reynolds, and Gary (Becky) Crider; his daughters, Susan Broadway, and Linda Sanders; his brothers, Ron (Peggy) Adams, and Gene Dale Broadway; his sisters, Beverly (Wayne) Irvin, and Cathy (Joe) Lamont; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his loving pet companion, Sophie; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James L. "Jim" Broadway, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Broadway as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
