AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 572

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 572 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Department of Natural Resources Act is
5amended by changing Sections 20-5 and 20-15 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 801/20-5)
7    Sec. 20-5. State Museum. The State shall operate an
8Illinois State Museum in Springfield and at branch sites
9determined by the Department of Natural Resources in
10collaboration with units of local government. The Illinois
11State Museum and all branch sites shall be open to the public.
12The Illinois State Museum shall operate a research and
13collections center to research, preserve, and maintain access
14to the extensive Illinois State Museum collections. The
15Department of Natural Resources shall have within it the office
16of the Illinois State Museum. The Board of the Illinois State

1Museum is retained as the advisory governing board for the
2State Museum. The Department of Natural Resources and the Board
3of the Illinois State Museum shall solicit the assistance of
4the Illinois State Museum Society and units of local government
5to fundraise non-State resources for the museum.

7    (20 ILCS 801/20-15)
8    Sec. 20-15. Entrance fee; private contracting.
9    (a) The Department may set, by the Director, by
10administrative rule an entrance fee for visitors to the
11Illinois State Museum. A different fee may be charged for
12different classes of visitors. The fee assessed by this Section
13shall be deposited into the Illinois State Museum Fund for the
14Department to use to support the Illinois State Museum. The
15monies deposited into the Illinois State Museum Fund under this
16Section shall not be subject to administrative charges or
17chargebacks unless otherwise authorized by this Act.
18    (b) On and after the effective date of this amendatory Act
19of the 99th General Assembly, the State shall not contract with
20a private contractor or private vendor for services relating to
21the operation of the Illinois State Museum or its collections;
22however, this amendatory Act of the 99th General Assembly does
23not apply to contracts for ancillary services or other services
24not directly related to the ownership, management, or operation
25of the Illinois State Museum or its collections.
