| 1 | AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 760

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 760 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:
| ||||||
| 4 | "Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the | ||||||
| 5 | Career and Workforce Transition Act. | ||||||
| 6 | Section 5. Definitions. | ||||||
| 7 | "Board" means the Illinois Community College Board. | ||||||
| 8 | "Institution" means a non-degree granting institution that | ||||||
| 9 | is regulated and approved by the Board of Higher Education | ||||||
| 10 | under the Private Business and Vocational Schools Act of 2012 | ||||||
| 11 | and that is nationally accredited by an accreditor approved by | ||||||
| 12 | the U.S. Department of Education. | ||||||
| 13 | Section 10. Transfer of credits. A public community college | ||||||
| 14 | district shall accept up to 30 credit hours transferred from an | ||||||
| 15 | institution that has been approved under Section 15 of this Act | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | if a student has completed one of the following programs at | ||||||
| 2 | that institution: | ||||||
| 3 | (1) Medical Assisting. | ||||||
| 4 | (2) Medical Coding. | ||||||
| 5 | (3) Dental Assisting. | ||||||
| 6 | (4) HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning). | ||||||
| 7 | (5) Welding. | ||||||
| 8 | (6) Pharmacy Technician. | ||||||
| 9 | The program must, at a minimum, be a 9-month program and use a | ||||||
| 10 | credit-hour system. | ||||||
| 11 | Section 15. Board approval. The Board may approve an | ||||||
| 12 | institution as an institution from which credits may be | ||||||
| 13 | transferred under Section 10 of this Act if all of the | ||||||
| 14 | following conditions are met: | ||||||
| 15 | (1) The institution has submitted all proper | ||||||
| 16 | documentation and application materials that the Board | ||||||
| 17 | requests. | ||||||
| 18 | (2) The institution has successfully completed a full | ||||||
| 19 | term of national accreditation without probation, without | ||||||
| 20 | being denied accreditation, and without withdrawing an | ||||||
| 21 | application. | ||||||
| 22 | (3) The Board has verified the institution's good | ||||||
| 23 | standing during the period of its national accreditation. | ||||||
| 24 | Credit transfers from the institution may be made only | ||||||
| 25 | during the verified accreditation period. An institution | ||||||

| 1 | that is under review due to probation, that is denied | ||||||
| 2 | accreditation, or that withdraws an application for | ||||||
| 3 | national accreditation may not be approved under this | ||||||
| 4 | Section. | ||||||
| 5 | Section 90. Rulemaking. The Board shall adopt any rules | ||||||
| 6 | necessary to carry out its responsibilities under this Act.".
