| 1 | | AN ACT concerning public aid.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 12-4.13a as follows:
|
| 6 | | (305 ILCS 5/12-4.13a new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 12-4.13a. Gross income eligibility standard; SNAP. |
| 8 | | Subject to federal approval if required, a household that |
| 9 | | includes an elderly, blind, or disabled person shall be |
| 10 | | considered categorically eligible for Supplemental Nutrition |
| 11 | | Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits if the gross income of such |
| 12 | | household is at or below 200% of the nonfarm income poverty |
| 13 | | guidelines updated periodically in the Federal Register by the |
| 14 | | U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services under the |
| 15 | | authority of 42 U.S.C. 9902(2); and a household that does not |
| 16 | | include an elderly, blind, or disabled person shall be |
| 17 | | considered categorically eligible for Supplemental Nutrition |
| 18 | | Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits if the gross income of such |
| 19 | | household is at or below 165% of those nonfarm income poverty |
| 20 | | guidelines.

| 21 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January |
| 22 | | 1, 2016.
