AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2288




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2288 as follows:
 
3on page 1, by replacing line 5 with "heading of Article 27, 
4changing Section 27-5, and adding 27-13 as follows:"; and

 
5on page 1, immediately after line 21, by inserting the 
6following:

 
7    "(60 ILCS 1/27-13 new)
8    Sec. 27-13. Cost and services study. Prior to certifying 
9and causing a proposition to be submitted to the voters under 
10Section 27-10, the city council of the coterminous municipality 
11governing the township  shall conduct or have conducted a cost 
12and services study, paid for by the township and municipality, 
13detailing the fiscal and services impact the discontinuance of 
14the township would have on the taxpayers of the township and 
15municipality. Any such cost and services study shall be

1completed on or before 45 days after adoption of an ordinance, 
2or receipt of a petition, under Section 27-10. After receipt of 
3the cost and services study by the city council, and no later 
4than 60 days after adoption of an ordinance, or receipt of a 
5petition, under Section 27-10, the city council shall certify 
6and cause the proposition to be submitted to the voters of the 
7township to discontinue and abolish the township organization 
8as provided in Section 27-10.".
