SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 2610/8.3 new

    Amends the State Police Act. Provides that aggregate appropriations available for sworn State Police officers shall be no less than the total aggregate appropriations made available for salaries for sworn State Police officers for the immediately preceding fiscal year. If the aggregate appropriations are insufficient to meet this requirement, this Section constitutes a continuing appropriation of all amounts necessary, unless changed by law. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The State Police Act is amended by adding
5Section 8.3 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 2610/8.3 new)
7    Sec. 8.3. Continuing appropriation for State Police.
8    (a) Beginning on and after the effective date of this
9amendatory Act of the 99th General Assembly, the aggregate
10appropriations available for salaries of sworn State Police
11officers from all State funds for each State fiscal year shall
12be no less than the total aggregate appropriations made
13available for salaries of sworn State Police officers for the
14immediately preceding fiscal year.
15    (b) If for any reason the aggregate appropriations made
16available are insufficient to meet the levels required by
17subsections (a) of this Section, this Section shall constitute
18a continuing appropriation of all amounts necessary for these
19purposes. The General Assembly may appropriate lesser amounts
20by law.
 
21    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
22becoming law.
