1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Electrologist Licensing Act is amended by
5changing Section 30 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 412/30)
7    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2024)
8    Sec. 30. Qualifications for licensure. A person shall be
9qualified for licensure as an electrologist if that person has
10met all of the following requirements:
11        (1) Has applied in writing on the prescribed forms and
12    has paid the required fees.
13        (2) Has not violated any of the provisions of Section
14    75 of this Act or the rules promulgated under this Act. The
15    Department shall take into consideration any felony
16    conviction of the applicant, but a conviction shall not
17    operate as an absolute bar to licensure.
18        (3) Is at least 18 years of age.
19        (4) Has received his or her high school diploma or
20    equivalent.
21        (5) Has completed a total of 600 hours in the study of
22    electrology over a period of not less than 16 weeks nor
23    more than 4 2 consecutive years at a program approved by

1    the Department. Upon approval by the Department, time spent
2    in such study under the laws of another state or territory
3    of the United States or of a foreign country or province
4    shall be credited toward the period of study required by
5    the provisions of this paragraph. If an applicant completed
6    a program before December 31, 2003, the program may be less
7    than 600 hours if it is approved by the Department.
8        (6) Has successfully completed an examination approved
9    by the Department that tests the applicant's knowledge of
10    the theory and clinical practice of electrology.
