|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Mechanics Lien Act is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 6 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (770 ILCS 60/6) (from Ch. 82, par. 6)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 6.
In no event shall it be necessary to fix or |
| 8 | | stipulate in any
contract a time for the
the completion or a |
| 9 | | time for payment in order to obtain
a lien under this act, |
| 10 | | provided, that the work is done or material
furnished within |
| 11 | | three years from the commencement of said work or the
|
| 12 | | commencement of furnishing said material in the case of work |
| 13 | | done or material furnished as to residential property; and |
| 14 | | within 5 years from the commencement of said work or the |
| 15 | | commencement of furnishing said material in the case of work |
| 16 | | done or material furnished as to any other type of property. |
| 17 | | The changes made by this amendatory Act of the 97th General |
| 18 | | Assembly become inoperative 3 years after the effective date of |
| 19 | | this amendatory Act of the 97th General Assembly. |
