Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Defines "electrically motorized board". Provides that a person shall not operate an electrically motorized board except within a lane designated for bicycles.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 11-1412.5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/11-1412.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 11-1412.5. Electrically motorized board. |
| 8 | | (a) As used in this Section, "electrically motorized board" |
| 9 | | means any wheeled device, other than an electric personal |
| 10 | | assistive mobility device, that has a floorboard designed to be |
| 11 | | stood upon when riding that is not greater than 60 inches deep |
| 12 | | and 18 inches wide, is designed to transport only one person, |
| 13 | | and has an electric propulsion system averaging less than 1,000 |
| 14 | | watts and limits the maximum to speed of the device to 20 miles |
| 15 | | per hour or less. The device may be designed to also be powered |
| 16 | | by human propulsion. |
| 17 | | (b) A person shall not operate an electrically motorized |
| 18 | | board except within a lane designated for bicycles.
