SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Illinois veterans deserve recognition, respect, 
3and admiration for their
dedication to protecting our State, 
4nation, and freedom around the world; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The citizens of Illinois can never do enough to 
6honor those who fought so bravely for the
freedoms we enjoy 
7today; many of the veterans we honor paid the ultimate price so 
8that every citizen may enjoy
the freedoms and way of life we 
9have today; it is important to make sure that our veterans
are 
10never forgotten; and
  
 
  
11    WHEREAS, Our veterans
are true American heroes and embody 
12what our country and State stands for: freedom, democracy,

13integrity, and compassion; and
  
 
  
14    WHEREAS, The citizens of Illinois are indebted to the 
15courage, bravery, and
selflessness of our veterans and we are 
16thankful for their service to our country; therefore, be it
  
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 
19CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the new Route 89 bridge as 
20it crosses the Illinois River as the "Illinois Valley Veterans

21Memorial Bridge"; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation

2is requested to erect at suitable locations consistent with

3State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs

4giving notice of the name
the "Illinois Valley Veterans 
5Memorial Bridge"; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
7presented
to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of 
8Transportation and the Spring Valley Veterans of Foreign
Wars.
