| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Mary Ann C. Knell of Peoria Heights, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on December 15, 2014; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Knell was born in Peoria on September 3, | ||||||
| 6 | 1950 to Claire and Rose M. Crabill; she graduated from Saint | ||||||
| 7 | Patrick Catholic Grade School and Washington Community High | ||||||
| 8 | School; she graduated with high honors from the University of | ||||||
| 9 | Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Liberal Arts and | ||||||
| 10 | Sciences, where she was Captain of the cheerleaders, chapter | ||||||
| 11 | President of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority - Zeta Phi Eta, | ||||||
| 12 | Speech Honorary, and Homecoming Queen finalist; she married | ||||||
| 13 | Charles D. "Denne" Knell in 1972; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Knell began teaching speech at Rantoul | ||||||
| 15 | Township High School in 1972; in 1973, she and her husband | ||||||
| 16 | moved to Dallas, Texas and she worked as a fashion buyer at the | ||||||
| 17 | Sanger-Harris department store while her husband completed law | ||||||
| 18 | school at Southern Methodist University; she returned to Peoria | ||||||
| 19 | in 1977 and worked as a buyer at Bergner's department store; | ||||||
| 20 | and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Knell had an award-winning 30-year career | ||||||
| 22 | in real estate; she was known as the leader of The Knell Group, | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | a top real estate team, which continues to lead the way in | ||||||
| 2 | Peoria-area real estate at Colwell Banker Honig Bell; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Knell was active with the Junior League | ||||||
| 4 | of Peoria, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital midwest | ||||||
| 5 | affiliate, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and the Family | ||||||
| 6 | House; upon her mother's passing, she helped establish the Rose | ||||||
| 7 | M. Crabill Scholarship at the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center | ||||||
| 8 | College of Nursing and served on the school's board; she was an | ||||||
| 9 | active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Knell was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 11 | parents; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Knell is survived by her husband, | ||||||
| 13 | Charles; her daughter, Antonina Marie (Patrick Decker) Sachse; | ||||||
| 14 | her son, Peter W. Knell; her granddaughter, Antonina Rose | ||||||
| 15 | Sachse; and her brother, Warren (Mary Jane) Crabill;
therefore, | ||||||
| 16 | be it

| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 19 | Mary Ann C. Knell, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 20 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 21 | further
