SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Catherine "Kay" Ann Shea of Wilmington,
4who passed away on December 21, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Catherine Shea was born on January 7, 1922 in
6Joliet; her parents were Bernard "Bert" and Helen (nee Tebeau)
7Staehely; she married John "Elmer" Shea on July 19, 1944 in
8Fort Knox, Kentucky; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Catherine Shea was raised in Joliet; she graduated
10from Joliet Township High School with the Class of 1940; she
11subsequently earned her Teaching Certification at Joliet
12Junior College; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Catherine Shea served as a teacher at the Minooka
14Country School; she later worked at Clennon Electric Company in
15Wilmington as a secretary; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Catherine Shea was a very active member of St.
17Rose of Lima Parish in Wilmington, where she was involved with
18the Mother's Club, served on the Parish Council, and was a past
19officer of the Council of Catholic Women, who honored her with
20the Woman of the Year designation; she and her husband
21participated in the Catholic Family Movement; she was also a

1volunteer at the Kuzma Care Cottage; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Catherine Shea was preceded by her husband; her
3parents; a daughter, Peggy Weitekamp; and a son, Daniel Joseph
4Shea; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Catherine Shea is survived by a son, Deacon John
6P. (Lynette) Shea; a daughter, Kathryn S. Shea; a son-in-law,
7Larry (Nancy) Weitekamp; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly (David)
8Gray, Brett (Cara) Weitekamp, Erin J. (Scott) Smith, Kate Shea,
9Kendra Albritton, Devyn Wingater, Austin Weitekamp, Ryan
10Weitekamp, Kayla Weitekamp, Lauren Weitekamp, and Kaitlin
11Weitekamp; 11 great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Ethan, Matthew,
12Suzanne, Abigail Grace, Aiden, Chase, Madison, Asia, and
13Benjamin; and many friends; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
16family and friends, mourn the passing of Catherine "Kay" Ann
17Shea; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Catherine Shea as an expression of
20our sympathy.
