SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Virginia M. Tapella, who passed away on
4December 26, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Virginia Tapella was born on July 18, 1920 in
6Joliet and was a life-long resident of Joliet; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Virginia Tapella and her husband, George T.
8Tapella, founded the Tapella Funeral Home in 1948; she worked
9tirelessly assisting with the funeral home operations for over
1050 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Virginia Tapella was an active member of the
12Church of St. Anthony, serving as a Lector and Eucharist
13Minister for many years; she was a member of the Council of
14Catholic Women of the Church of St. Anthony and also was named
15Woman of the Year for the parish; she was also a proud lifetime
16member and a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Stone
17City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2199; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Virginia Tapella was preceded in death by her
19husband, George; her parents, Peter J. and Mary V. (nee
20Menietti) Faletti; and her dearest sister and best friend, Mary
21Eileen DeChecko; and

1    WHEREAS, Virginia Tapella was the proud mother of 3 sons,
2Thomas G. (Faith) Tapella, Richard J. (Lynn) Tapella, and Rev.
3Joseph J. Tapella; the loving grandmother of Thomas A. (Nancy)
4Tapella and Bryan J. (Theresa) Tapella; the fond
5great-grandmother of Nathan, Jake, and Arya Tapella and Joseph
6Crosetto; she is also survived by a brother-in-law, John Joseph
7(the late Mary Eileen) DeChecko and many nieces and cousins;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Virginia M. Tapella;
12and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Virginia Tapella as an expression of
15our sympathy.
