SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ronald "Ron" Cornelius, who passed away
4on December 18, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ronald Cornelius was born on December 24, 1941 in
6Joliet; his mother was Ollie Kay Cornelius; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ronald Cornelius graduated from Joliet Township
8High School in 1960; he subsequently earned a degree in
9business administration from Roosevelt University in 1977; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ronald Cornelius was employed with Commonwealth
11Edison for 34 years; after retiring from ComEd, he served as a
12counselor at Joliet Job Corps and Aunt Martha's Youth Service
13Center; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ronald Cornelius served in local politics since
15the 1980s; he was elected to the Joliet Township High School
16Board and was appointed as a commissioner on the Will County
17Board; he also served as president of the Joliet Public Library
18Board and as a member of the Will County Board of Health; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ronald Cornelius was a member of the Beacon Club
20and the Associated Clubs of Greater Will County; and

1    WHEREAS, Ronald Cornelius was preceded in death by his
2mother and 2 brothers, Sterling and Terry Cornelius; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ronald Cornelius is survived by his loving and
4devoted wife of 11 years, Arnetta Cornelius; 2 sons, James
5(Lisa) White and Cedric Foster; 2 brothers, Melvin and Floyd
6Cornelius; 2 sisters, Patricia Childs and Rosa Wilson; and many
7grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members,
8and friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Ronald "Ron"
12Cornelius; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Ronald Cornelius as an expression of
15our sympathy.
