SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marjorie "Margie" Affrunti, who passed
4away on December 20, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marjorie Affrunti was born in 1923 in Joliet and
6was a lifelong resident of Joliet; she married Dom Affrunti in
71947; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marjorie Affrunti graduated from Joliet Central
9High School with the Class of 1941; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marjorie Affrunti was employed as a secretary at
11Joliet Township High School for 32 years; she was one of 4
12secretaries who organized the Joliet Township High School
13Clerical Union and served as president of the organization for
144 years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Marjorie Affrunti was the president of the Phoenix
16Club for 10 years and served as secretary of the organization
17for one year; she served as Eucharistic Minister and a Lector
18at the Church of St. Anthony in Joliet and was a member of the
19Council of Catholic Women for 20 years; in 2003, she was
20designated as Woman of the Year at the Church of St. Anthony;
21she also volunteered at the Rialto Square Theatre for 20 years;

2    WHEREAS, Marjorie Affrunti was preceded in death by her
3husband, Dominic "Dom" Affrunti; her parents, Ann and George
4Smolak; a brother, Richard Smolak; and many in-laws; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marjorie Affrunti is survived by 2 daughters,
6Nancy (Phil) Osborne-Smieszkal and Pamela (Jim) Barrowman; 3
7grandsons, Justin (fiancee, Rachel) and Ryan (Robyn) Osborne
8and Tim (Courtney) Barrowman; and 3 great-grandchildren, Gage
9and Cam Osborne and Brayden Barrowman; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Marjorie "Margie"
13Affrunti; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Marjorie Affrunti as an expression
16of our sympathy.
