| 2 | | WHEREAS, Test scores and grade point averages do not tell |
| 3 | | us every important thing about our students; motivation, |
| 4 | | creativity, and the tenacity to innovate are essential values |
| 5 | | in our society; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Foundry for Innovation in |
| 7 | | Engineering Education (iFoundry), from the University of |
| 8 | | Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has created the awards program |
| 9 | | "Celebrating High School Innovators" as an opportunity to |
| 10 | | recognize and celebrate those top 100 students in the State of |
| 11 | | Illinois whose contributions are innovative, creative, or |
| 12 | | inspirational, on May 8 and 9, 2015; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, The members of this body recognize the importance |
| 14 | | of innovation in our school systems to our communities, our |
| 15 | | State, and our country; therefore, be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate the date |
| 18 | | of May 8, 2015 as High School Innovators Day and the week of |
| 19 | | May 4 - 10, 2015 as High School Innovators Week in the State of |
| 20 | | Illinois; and be it further
