SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Arnet D. Sorters of Marengo, who passed
4away on December 1, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Arnet Sorters was born in Attica, Indiana on July
617, 1929 to Leo and Genevieve (nee Kirts) Sorters; he served in
7the United States Air Force in Japan during the Korean War; he
8married Barbara Hopkins in Riverside, Indiana on February 9,
91949; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Arnet Sorters's work with airplanes during his
11time in the service created a lifelong passion for flying;
12after returning from the Korean War, he became a pilot for
13United Airlines, where he worked for 36 years; after his
14retirement, he and his wife lived in Byron and then Marengo;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Arnet Sorters enjoyed fishing, hunting, and
17golfing; he was knowledgeable on many subjects and Consumer
18Reports magazine was his Bible, but most of all, he loved his
19grandkids; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Arnet Sorters was preceded in death by his wife,
21Barbara; his parents; and his son, Mark Sorters; and

1    WHEREAS, Arnet Sorters is survived by his children, Vicki
2(Bruce) Volkening and Kurt (Debbie) Sorters; his
3grandchildren, Dawn, Matthew, Heather, Aryn, James, Ashley,
4Carissa, and Daniel; his great-grandchildren, Sebastian,
5Bailey, Payton, Haleigh, Brent, Brady, Gabriel, Jianna, Kenny,
6Alyssa, Samantha, and Michala; and his brother, Jack (Chris)
7Sorters; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Arnet D. Sorters, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Arnet Sorters as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
