SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James McNeese, M.D. of Oak Park, who passed away on August 28, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Dr. James McNeese was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on January 1, 1925 to James W. and Florence (nee Hunter) McNeese; he worked in various levels of medicine before completing his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1965; he interned in Texas and completed his residency in dermatology at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County; and

WHEREAS, Dr. James McNeese settled in Oak Park in 1969 and began his private practice in La Grange; he was a member of the American Academy of Dermatology; he married Mona Leininger in 1976; and

WHEREAS, Dr. James McNeese continued to be a student, eventually working his way through many volumes of the Great Courses program; he loved liberal and progressive politics; he worked for the Democratic Party and headed the Portland, Oregon "Young Democrats" during the Kennedy campaign of 1960; his "handshake photo" with then-candidate Kennedy was a prized possession; he was also an avid chess player, writer, dreamer, musician, and poet; and

WHEREAS, Dr. James McNeese was preceded in death by his daughter, Megan; and

WHEREAS, Dr. James McNeese is survived by his daughters, Amanda McNeese and Amy McNeese-Mechan; his son, Terry McNeese (Karen Farmer); Mona's daughters, Robin Zimmerman and Dana Zimmerman Murphy (Michael Murphy); and he will always be Grandpa Jimmie to Tom, Dan, and Jack Murphy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James McNeese, M.D., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. James McNeese as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
