| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Donald J. "Donnie" Gasparini of Rockford, |
| 4 | | who passed away on February 6, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Donald Gasparini was born in Rockford on February |
| 6 | | 3, 1943 to John and Theresa (nee Zavagnin) Gasparini and lived |
| 7 | | his entire life in the Rockford area; he graduated from St. |
| 8 | | Thomas High School in 1960 and married Peggie Hammerstrand in |
| 9 | | Rockford on June 15, 1963; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Donald Gasparini started his career as a |
| 11 | | supervisor in the Illinois Secretary of State's office; he |
| 12 | | eventually served the community as its Sheriff for nearly 18 |
| 13 | | years before retiring in 1997; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Donald Gasparini enjoyed spending winters in |
| 15 | | Naples, Florida; he was a member of St. Anthony's Church, the |
| 16 | | Venetian Club, the Knights of Columbus, the Tebala Shriners and |
| 17 | | many others; he was inducted into the Italian Hall of Fame and |
| 18 | | served as President of the Illinois Sheriff's Association; he |
| 19 | | attended RVC, the FBI Academy, and the Secret Service Academy; |
| 20 | | and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Donald Gasparini was preceded in death by his |
|

| 1 | | parents; his brother, Anthony Gasparini; and his close friend, |
| 2 | | Jerry Tassoni; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Donald Gasparini is survived by his wife, Peggie; |
| 4 | | his children, John (Amy) Gasparini, Marc (Cathy) Gasparini, |
| 5 | | Deanna Gasparini, and Donald (Jamie) Gasparini, Jr.; his |
| 6 | | grandchildren, Ashley, Franchesca, Sam, Amanda, Bella, |
| 7 | | Nicholas, Ella, Tess, Geno, Ava, and Joey; his sister, Carolyn |
| 8 | | (Joseph) Scandroli; his sister-in-law, Loretta Gasparini; his |
| 9 | | brother-in-law/son, James Hammerstrand; his very special Aunt |
| 10 | | Rose and Uncle Pep Dal Pra; and several cousins, nieces, |
| 11 | | nephews, and dear friends; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 14 | | Donald J. "Donnie" Gasparini, and extend our sincere |
| 15 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
| 16 | | him; and be it further
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 18 | | presented to the family of Donald Gasparini as an expression of |
| 19 | | our deepest sympathy.
