2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Duane J. Broomfield of Rockford, who |
4 | | passed away on February 24, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Duane Broomfield was born in Boise City, Oklahoma |
6 | | on September 18, 1934 to Thurlow and Violet (nee Kittle) |
7 | | Broomfield; he was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and |
8 | | a 1952 graduate of West High School; he served in the United |
9 | | States Marine Corps and married Shirley Picchione on November |
10 | | 15, 1958 at St. Anthony Church; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Duane Broomfield worked as a carpenter and owned |
12 | | Winnebago Counter Tops; he was an excellent woodworker and |
13 | | always helped family and friends with their home remodeling; |
14 | | and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Duane Broomfield coached baseball at Kenrock |
16 | | Community Center and the Rockford Red Wings fast pitch softball |
17 | | team; he volunteered at Head Start and was a regular blood |
18 | | donor; he enjoyed vacations, going out to eat with family and |
19 | | friends, golfing, bowling, and playing cards; he was an avid |
20 | | Green Bay Packers fan; he loved taking walks with his wife |
21 | | around the lakes in Geneva while eating a butter pecan ice |
22 | | cream cone; he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play soccer, |
