SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Earl A. Cummings of Clarendon Hills, who
4passed away on February 2, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Earl Cummings was born in Chicago on May 5, 1938
6to Earl and Suzanne (nee Hague) Cummings; he graduated from
7Chicago public grade schools and high schools; he then attended
8Valparaiso University on a basketball scholarship, graduating
9in 1960; from 1962 to 1969, he served in the United States Army
10and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in the
11Signal Corps; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Earl Cummings worked for the Illinois Bell
13Telephone Company from 1960 to 1968, Continental Bank in
14Chicago from 1968 to 1973, Quasar Electronics from 1973 to
151977, the World Bank in Washington, D.C. from 1977 to 1988,
16Comsat International Communications, Inc. from 1988 to 1994,
17Northern Telecom from 1994 to 1996, Aeroteck E F & I Services
18from 1996 to 1999, and ADC Telecommunications from 1999 to
192003; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Earl Cummings was preceded in death by his
21parents; his sister, Janice (Albert); his brother, Kenneth C.
22Cummings; and his sister, Carol (Jacobsen); and

1    WHEREAS, Earl Cummings is survived by his best friend and
2loving wife of 45 years, Janice M. Cummings (nee Kostiuk); his
3children, Laura S. Blackwell (Peter) and Kyle J. Cummings; his
4granddaughters, Abigail and Katelyn; his grandsons, Jacob and
5Jackson; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Earl A. Cummings, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Earl Cummings as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
