| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Dr. John Dickens of St. Charles, who |
| 4 | | passed away on February 6, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Dickens was
born in Aurora to William and |
| 6 | | Elizabeth Dickens and was a lifelong resident of St. Charles; |
| 7 | | he graduated from Marmion Academy in 1958 and from the |
| 8 | | University of
Dayton in 1962; he received his Doctorate in |
| 9 | | Dental
Surgery from Marquette University in 1966; he served in |
| 10 | | the United States Army, stationed in Korea at Camp Irwin; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Dickens returned to
his home town and opened |
| 12 | | his dental practice in downtown St. Charles in December of |
| 13 | | 1969; his practice was not just work, but his passion; he loved |
| 14 | | each of his patients and they, along with his
staff, became his |
| 15 | | second family; he served on the board of the Heritage Center in |
| 16 | | St. Charles and the Norris Center in St. Charles and was a |
| 17 | | member of St. John Neumann Catholic
Church, the Knights of |
| 18 | | Columbus, the American Legion, and the St. Charles Country |
| 19 | | Club; he
volunteered his time and talent with his wife in |
| 20 | | Guatemala and at the girls school in
Geneva; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Dickens was an avid golfer and racket ball |
| 22 | | player; he enjoyed many outdoor activities and
loved all of the |
