| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Jill Poehlman, who passed away on January |
| 4 | | 1, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jill Poehlman was born in New Orleans, Louisiana |
| 6 | | on October 24, 1943; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Jill Poehlman began her career at the Actor's |
| 8 | | Studio in New York City and worked off-Broadway and in regional |
| 9 | | theaters throughout the country; in 1986, she created the |
| 10 | | not-for-profit Communication Arts, Speech, and Theatre program |
| 11 | | at Julian Junior High School in Oak Park, and later at Center |
| 12 | | Stage - Dominican University's performing arts program; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, During Jill Poehlman's time working at Dominican |
| 14 | | University, she fell in love with the Sinsinawa Dominican |
| 15 | | mission and became a member of the Dominican Associates, an |
| 16 | | organization of laypersons affiliated with the Dominican |
| 17 | | Sisters of Peace; she went from working at the university to |
| 18 | | working for the congregation itself; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Jill Poehlman was a vital force who inspired |
| 20 | | thousands of young people to be their best selves; and
