SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jill Poehlman, who passed away on January
41, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jill Poehlman was born in New Orleans, Louisiana
6on October 24, 1943; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jill Poehlman began her career at the Actor's
8Studio in New York City and worked off-Broadway and in regional
9theaters throughout the country; in 1986, she created the
10not-for-profit Communication Arts, Speech, and Theatre program
11at Julian Junior High School in Oak Park, and later at Center
12Stage - Dominican University's performing arts program; and
 
13    WHEREAS, During Jill Poehlman's time working at Dominican
14University, she fell in love with the Sinsinawa Dominican
15mission and became a member of the Dominican Associates, an
16organization of laypersons affiliated with the Dominican
17Sisters of Peace; she went from working at the university to
18working for the congregation itself; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jill Poehlman was a vital force who inspired
20thousands of young people to be their best selves; and

1    WHEREAS, Jill Poehlman is survived by her husband, Michael;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Jill Poehlman, and extend our sincere condolences to her
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Jill Poehlman as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
