SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lily Wei-Jeo Lee of Peoria, who passed
4away on March 15, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lily Lee was born on November 7, 1936 in Ningbo,
6China; her parents were Z.H. and Alice Ching; she married Steve
7Lee on August 8, 1959, in Wilmington, Delaware; and
 
8    WHEREAS, As a young girl, Lily Lee immigrated with her
9family to Taipei, Taiwan, where she attended grade school and
10high school; in the early 1950s, she moved to Peoria to attend
11nursing school at St. Francis Hospital; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lily Lee dedicated her entire career to nursing;
13she started her career as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital,
14where she served for many years; in 1972, she joined the staff
15of instructors at the Illinois Central College nursing program;
16as an instructor, she was able to work toward building a vital
17part of the Peoria area health care community; she served at
18Illinois Central College from 1972 to 1997; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Later in her life, Lily Lee set herself an
20ambitious goal of returning to school to earn a Ph.D. in
21pediatric nursing; after studying at the University of Illinois

1Chicago Circle campus and Yale University, she earned her Ph.D.
2with a thesis on assessing pediatric pain; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Lily Lee was an avid traveler; following her
4retirement, she and her husband traveled across the globe,
5sharing many adventures and serving as goodwill ambassadors for
6Peoria; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Lily Lee is survived by a son, Jeffrey; a
8daughter-in-law, Anthanette; a granddaughter, Elena; 3
9sisters, Jean, Rose, and Mary; and a brother, David; therefore,
10be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Lily Wei-Jeo Lee; and
14be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Lily Lee as an expression of our
17sympathy.
