| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Lily Wei-Jeo Lee of Peoria, who passed |
| 4 | | away on March 15, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lily Lee was born on November 7, 1936 in Ningbo, |
| 6 | | China; her parents were Z.H. and Alice Ching; she married Steve |
| 7 | | Lee on August 8, 1959, in Wilmington, Delaware; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, As a young girl, Lily Lee immigrated with her |
| 9 | | family to Taipei, Taiwan, where she attended grade school and |
| 10 | | high school; in the early 1950s, she moved to Peoria to attend |
| 11 | | nursing school at St. Francis Hospital; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Lily Lee dedicated her entire career to nursing; |
| 13 | | she started her career as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital, |
| 14 | | where she served for many years; in 1972, she joined the staff |
| 15 | | of instructors at the Illinois Central College nursing program; |
| 16 | | as an instructor, she was able to work toward building a vital |
| 17 | | part of the Peoria area health care community; she served at |
| 18 | | Illinois Central College from 1972 to 1997; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Later in her life, Lily Lee set herself an |
| 20 | | ambitious goal of returning to school to earn a Ph.D. in |
| 21 | | pediatric nursing; after studying at the University of Illinois |
