SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Howard Parker Price of Lake in the Hills,
4who passed away on January 6, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Howard Price was born in Lebanon, Tennessee on
6June 19, 1936 to Clyde N. and Irene Price; he graduated from
7Tennessee Technological University in 1959 with a Bachelor of
8Science in Electrical Engineering; he married Hilda in 1979;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Howard Price spent his career in
11telecommunications, beginning with the REA in Washington D.C.,
12where he worked on standards for telephone circuits; he was
13also an engineer supervisor for Anaconda Wire and Cable
14Company, and then for most of his career, a General Manager for
15C ntel Telephone, where he focused on regional switching
16centers, network design, lightening protection, and fiber
17optic deployment; he retired with Sprint Telephone and then
18continued working in his field as a consultant with Tellabs and
19Argonne National Labs; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Howard Price served in the National Guard in
21Washington, D.C. during President John F. Kennedy's term in
22office; he was present at Kennedy's inauguration and funeral,

1and also stood at the stage during Martin Luther King's "I Have
2a Dream" speech; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Howard Price was an active member of Crystal Lake
4Evangelical Free Church, where he taught Sunday school and sang
5in the choir for most of his life; he was also a member of The
6Gideons International; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Howard Price was preceded in death by his parents,
8Clyde and Irene Price, and his grandson, Treyce James Lakoskey;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Howard Price is survived by his wife, Hilda; his
11children, Lisa (Rodney) Hazel, Stefanie (Jeff) Nimick, Karen
12(Adrian) Newis, Angie Lakoskey, and Bryan Parker (Kelly) Price;
13his siblings, Carl (Mary Lena) Price, Marilyn (Bill) Ellis, Don
14(Faye) Price, and Rena (Joe) Langford; his 15 grandchildren;
15his great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews;
16therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Howard Parker Price, and extend our sincere condolences to his
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
21further
